Analysis of aid agency said Apple iPad into the world's third-largest PC maker

Canalys noted that Apple's fourth quarter, PC shipments totaled 11.5 million units, far exceeding the 340 million units a year earlier. HP still top the list, the fourth quarter, PC shipments totaled 18.7 million units, accounting for 17.7% of global market share. Acer ranked second, is 1150 million units shipped, the market share of 12.8%.

Canalys statistics also showed that Dell in the fourth quarter shipments totaled 11.4 million units, down 10.8% market share; Lenovo slipped into the world's fifth-largest PC manufacturer. However, two other market research companies IDC and Gartner, in the previous statistics do not incorporate the Tablet PC. According to IDC, Dell is still the world's second-largest PC maker, shipped 11.1 million units, second only to HP, followed by Acer, Lenovo and Toshiba; Gartner put Dell in third place, in front of Hewlett-Packard, Acer, followed by Lenovo and Toshiba.

Canalys statistics included in the sales of tablet PCs, resulting in the company's reports and IDC, Gartner's data appears a lot of bias. Gartner previously announced fourth-quarter global PC shipments growth of only 3.1%, below its previous forecast of 4.8%; IDC is expected fourth-quarter PC shipment rate is only 2.7%. IDC and Gartner in the report also pointed out that the performance of fourth-quarter PC market by a number of factors, including competition from the Tablet PC.

Canalys report also noted that in addition to iPad, the fourth-quarter PC shipments rose sharply, also should be grateful for Samsung Tablet PC Galaxy Tab. In addition, as more and more enterprises begin deploying Microsoft Windows 7 operating system, PC, HP, Dell, Lenovo will benefit.
